In the Municipality of Venice, all guests staying in accommodations (hotels, room rentals, B&Bs, etc.) are required to pay the Tourist Tax, which is collected directly by the facility manager. The tax is calculated by applying, for each guest, the rate set by the Municipality to the number of nights the person stays in the facility (up to 5 nights).

The Access Fee is applied as an alternative to the Tourist Tax and applies to all those who are in the historic city centre on the specified days and at the specified times without staying in accommodation in the Municipality of Venice, subject to the exclusions or exemptions provided for. Therefore, guests staying at an accommodation facility located in the Municipality of Venice are not required to pay the Access Fee but must proceed as required by the operating procedures to demonstrate exemption from payment for the days on which the Access Fee applies. In this case, the exemption is recognised from the day of arrival to the day of departure.
